General Information

The Department of Nuclear Medicine is located in the Starr Pavillion, second floor at the 70th street entrance off of York Avenue.

Approaching from south of East 68th Street – Take the FDR Drive northbound to the 61st Street exit. Make right onto York Avenue and go north to 68th Street.

Approaching from north of East 68th Street – Take the FDR Drive southbound to the 71st Street exit. Make left onto York Avenue and go south to 68th Street.

By Subway Take the #6 train to East 68th Street. Walk four blocks east to York Avenue, or take the M66 bus eastbound to York Avenue.

By Bus Take the M31 to the East 69th Street stop, directly in front of New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell. (The M31 operates north and south on York Avenue, and across town on 57th Street.) Crosstown buses M30, M66, and M72 allow you to transfer to the M31 at York Avenue.

On your interview date you should proceed to the departmental library, ST-221. As you exit the elevators, proceed to the left of the front desk, and then enter the first doorway on your left.

Conferences and Didactics

Noon Conference- These daily didactic and case-based conferences are provided for all residents. The didactic lecture series covers all topics in radiology on a two-year recurring schedule.

Mettler Club- An attending nuclear radiologist meets with the residents in the beginning of the academic year to review this general nuclear medicine textbook.

Grand Rounds- Prominent radiologists and Nuclear Medicine physicians from around the country focus on the latest developments in basic research and clinical interpretation.

Physics and radiopharmacy-Physics and radiopharmacy staff meet with the residents every Tuesday to review pertinent nuclear medicine topics.

Thyroid conference-The section hosts a multidisciplinary endocrine conference ccordinated and presented by the nuclear medicine residents.

Board Review- Both radiology and nuclear medicine board reviews are organized by the faculty.

Salary and Benefits

The benefits provided by the hospital to housestaff include full medical and dental coverage. Salaries for the academic year are as follows:

Additional departmental benefits include funding for:

  • Coverage for travel and meeting expenses associated with academic presentations.
  • Membership in the New York Roentgen Ray Society. All residents attend the NYRS lecture series, which runs monthly from from Fall through Spring

The hospital compensation package reimburses residents for first time and renewal applications for a New York State license.

Nuclear radiology

US applicants can be board-eligible or board-certified in radiology, as well as have a License to Practice Medicine in New York State before the start of the fellowship. Foreign applicants must obtain ECFMG certification, a clinical visa, and a Limited Permit to Practice Medicine in New York State prior to the fellowship.
